Our Process
Every piece of timber has a story. For over 45 years, we’ve been dedicated to transforming reclaimed logs into stunning, sustainable slabs. What began as a cabinet maker's apprenticeship in Newcastle at age 16 has grown into a lifelong passion for woodworking and a mission to craft beautiful pieces that stand the test of time.
1,000s of Slabs Ready
We specialise in breathing new life into Australian hardwoods. From sourcing to finishing, every slab is prepared with care to ensure it’s ready to inspire your next project.
Sourcing
We work with tree loppers, backyard clearers, and storm recovery teams to reclaim logs that would otherwise be discarded. By salvaging these logs, we save them from the mulcher or being turned into firewood, giving them a second life.
Drying & Sanding
Each log is kiln-dried and machine-sanded to ensure durability and a smooth finish, ready to be transformed into a timeless masterpiece.
Customising
We craft each slab to showcase its unique natural beauty while tailoring it to your project’s specific needs. Whether you’re envisioning a polished dining table or a rustic bar top, we can help bring your vision to life.

Choosing Newcastle Timber Slabs means selecting high-quality, sustainable materials with a rich history. Our attention to detail, commitment to sustainability, and passion for woodworking ensure that each slab is a unique work of art, ready to transform your project.
-
We specialise in sustainably sourced, locally reclaimed Australian hardwoods, including species like; Spotted Gum, Blue Gum, Camphor Laurel, Ironbark and Stringybark, just to name a few. Each slab is thoughtfully selected for its unique character and lasting durability, with availability changing regularly.
-
Our slabs are air-dried outside for at least a year, allowing nearly all moisture to naturally dissipate. They then spend 8-10 weeks in the kiln to remove any remaining moisture, ensuring the timber is stable, durable, and perfect for long-term use in furniture and other applications.
